Step-by-Step Migration

Complete migration guide

Follow these steps in order. Each takes 2–5 minutes.

1

Create your free Schedly account

Visit schedly.io and create your account. Schedly's free plan includes everything you need to evaluate the platform fully before committing. No credit card required.

💡

Start with the free plan even if you plan to upgrade. It lets you test the full experience before your first payment.

2

Export your Acuity client list

Before doing anything else, export your client list from Acuity. In Acuity, go to Clients → Export clients as CSV. Save this file — it contains your client contact information that you may want to import into a CRM or save for your records.

💡

Also export your appointment history if you need records for tax or compliance purposes.

3

Connect your calendar

Connect your Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar to Schedly. Schedly reads your existing availability in real-time, including events from all connected calendars. Your availability in Schedly will be accurate from the moment you connect.

💡

Connect all calendars you need checked for conflicts — not just your primary one.

4

Recreate your appointment types

Create a Schedly event type for each appointment type you have in Acuity. Match the name, duration, price (if applicable), buffer times, and availability windows. Schedly's unlimited event types mean no restrictions regardless of your plan.

💡

Review each Acuity appointment type as you recreate it. This is a good opportunity to update descriptions, adjust durations, or discontinue unused types.

5

Set up intake forms

Recreate your Acuity intake form questions in Schedly's form builder. Add every required field, optional field, and conditional question you use in Acuity. Schedly's forms support text, dropdowns, checkboxes, file uploads, and required field validation.

💡

If you use Acuity's intake forms for clinical intake (health history, consent forms), review Schedly's HIPAA compliance documentation first.

6

Configure packages and payment (Pro)

If you use Acuity for payment collection or session packages, configure Stripe payment in Schedly Pro. Connect your Stripe account and set deposit or full payment requirements on each event type that requires it.

💡

Schedly's Stripe integration requires Schedly Pro at $24/month. This is still significantly less than Acuity's equivalent plan tiers.

7

Test your booking flow

Book a test appointment with yourself using your Schedly link. Verify the confirmation email, calendar event creation, reminder scheduling, and intake form submission all work as expected.

💡

Test on both desktop and mobile. Most clients book on their phone.

8

Replace all Acuity links and cancel

Update every Acuity link on your website, email signature, social profiles, and any automated email sequences. Once all links are updated and you've confirmed Schedly is working correctly, cancel your Acuity/Squarespace Scheduling subscription.

💡

Check inside any email marketing tools for Acuity links embedded in automated sequences.

Why Make The Switch

What you gain by switching to Schedly

Free plan with unlimited bookings

Acuity has no free plan — you pay from day one. Schedly's free plan handles full professional scheduling indefinitely with no time limit.

Lower monthly cost overall

Acuity's entry plan is $20/month for basic features. Schedly Pro at $24/month includes SMS reminders, payment collection, and team scheduling that Acuity charges significantly more for at higher tiers.

Faster, more modern booking experience

Schedly's booking flow is faster and more mobile-optimized than Acuity's multi-step process. A faster booking flow converts more clients and reduces booking abandonment.

Not tied to Squarespace's roadmap

Since Squarespace acquired Acuity, product decisions are influenced by Squarespace's broader business strategy. Schedly is purpose-built for appointment scheduling with no competing product priorities.

Watch out for these migration gotchas

Handle existing session packages carefully

If clients have pre-purchased session packages in Acuity, you'll need to manually track their remaining balances during the transition. Communicate clearly about how existing packages will be honored in Schedly.

Clinical intake forms — check HIPAA requirements

If you use Acuity for healthcare intake (health history forms, consent forms), verify your Schedly Pro plan includes the BAA required for HIPAA compliance before migrating clinical data workflows.

Export data before canceling

Squarespace may limit access to historical data after cancellation. Export all client records and appointment history before you cancel your subscription.

In Depth

Acuity Scheduling to Schedly: What Actually Changes

The core appointment scheduling experience — client books from your availability, receives confirmation, gets reminded, shows up — is identical between Acuity and Schedly. What changes is the price, the booking page design, and the feature access at each plan tier. Most businesses switching from Acuity to Schedly report the transition takes less than an hour and the result is lower monthly cost with an equivalent or better client experience.

What Acuity Does Better (Be Honest With Yourself)

Acuity has more developed class and membership billing features — session packages, series bookings, and recurring payment structures that go beyond what most service businesses need. If you run a fitness studio, yoga practice, or similar business with complex recurring memberships, audit whether Schedly's package features meet your specific needs before migrating. For the majority of service businesses — coaches, consultants, therapists, freelancers — the difference is immaterial.

The Financial Case for Switching

Acuity's entry plan at $20/month gets you basic scheduling. To add SMS reminders, Stripe payment, or additional staff members, you move to higher tiers. Schedly Pro at $24/month includes all of these features in one plan. Over 12 months, the savings range from $120 to $600+ depending on which Acuity tier you're currently on. The migration takes 30 minutes. The math is straightforward.
